Urban Dance Project

An exciting project working with professional dancers and choreographers to create a performance later in the year.

Gloucestershire Dance (GD) have opportunities for young people, aged 11 - 21 years, to get involved in their Urban Dance project.

The project starts on 13th February 2012 with an Urban Immersion Day.

The day will take place betwwen 10am - 4.30pm and includes 3 masterclasses in:

  • Breaking
  • Wacking
  • Creative Hip Hop

where you will be working with professional dancers to explore Urban dance techniques.

On the 14th, 15th & 16th February 2012 work with choreographer Nathan French (from 2FaCeD dance Co) during his residency at GD, to make a piece to perform.

There will then be a series of rehearsals to finalise the performance piece. These will take place on 21st & 28th February 2012 and 6th & 13th March 2012,  between 7pm - 8.30pm.

Performances will take place at:

  • the National Star College Youth Festival on 22nd March 2012 
  • Gloucester's King's Square on 4th April 2012

Finally, You'll be invited to attend a Creative Masterclass with GD Associates and GD Youth on 11th April 2012

Venue: City Works in Gloucester

Costs: Inclusion in the whole project cost £60 per person (help with funding may be available on request and group bookings maybe cheaper)
