Emotional and behavioural changes in the individual can affect relationships and the dynamic of the family.
There may also be physical demands on the carer, while a loss of income can add additional stress to the family.
Caring for someone with a brain injury can require a great deal of patience and sacrifice.
This year's Action for Brain Injury Week will highlight the issues surrounding caring for someone with a brain injury while providing practical support to those who need help.

]]>Sport Makers is part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy and provides a free training opportunity for anyone aged 16 and over who wishes to organise Sport and Physical Activity opportunities for their friends, family, work colleagues, sports club and neighbours.
The next Sport Makers workshop is on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 at Cheltenham Racecourse and will run from 13:30 to 15:30.
This workshop coincides with the arrival of the Olympic Torch; bringing the London 2012 sports legacy to life.
Representatives from Cheltenham Archers, Gloucestershire Netball, Gloucester Rowing, Aspire Springers, Dowty Judo, North Gloucestershire Orienteering, and Gloucestershire Golf, will be at the event, along with skate boarders from the Rock Youth project, rock climbers from The Warehouse and Gloucestershire Crusaders Boccia Club.

SkillZONE Lifeskills Centre have special SkillZONE robots to help young people learn about safety and hazards in the village.
To help launch the robots they are running a competition to name them and win a visit to SkillZONE ahead of it's official opening in September.
The competition is open to any child in Gloucestershire.

]]>SkillZONE Lifeskills Centre for Gloucestershire is a state-of-the-art life size village.
It is a fully interactive learning environment to teach people of all ages how to recognise dangerous situations and stay safe.
There are 16 zones which cover a range of scenarios including road, rail and water safety, an internet cafe, as well as opportunities to cover home and personal safety.
It will open in September in 2012.

SkillZONE are currently recruiting Volunteer Guides to escort groups around the scenarios, encourageing visitors to identify dangers and actions to reduce and avoid risks.
The right candidates will receive training and you will be required to give a minimum of two days per month.
As a volunteer you will become a valued member of the team, have an input into the development of the centre and become an ambassador for the centre in your community.

Museum at Night is an evening of fun and entertainment to prove that museums are not boring and static, but fun and interactive for all the family.
Meet real-life canal characters on a tour of the museum by torchlight.
Drama students from Gloucestershire College play roles of the people who lived and worked on the docks in 1881.
Characters include waterways kids, drunken navvies, dockers and a saucy washer woman!
The event takes place on Friday 18th May from 6.30pm - 9.30pm.

The Team programme is for UK residents aged 16-25 who are unemployed. It's free, travel costs are provided and will not affect your Jobseeker's Allowance. It's ideal for those who lack confidence or qualifications.
The course will be based in Young Gloucestershire's training room at Greyfriar's House in the centre of Gloucester and runs for 12 weeks between Tuesday 8th May and Friday 27th July.

Art Shape are running ‘Carnival Construction – (the Scrapstore Challenge)’ at Gloucestershire Resource Centre daily from Tuesday 24th July to Friday 27th July 2012.
Disabled and non disabled children aged 11 – 18 will be invited to gather their materials from an exciting range of recycled scrap and work with professional sculptors to design and construct Olympian sized puppets to animate, walk or wheel about as part of the Gloucester Carnival procession on Saturday 28th July.
This is part of the ‘Of Course We Can’ events programme coordinated by Active Impact.
