Money

Essentials

Money might be one of the biggest influences when it comes to choosing a job or deciding whether to stay in education so it’s vital to understand it.

Whatever your financial circumstances, it’s important to keep an eye on the money you have coming in (such as the income from a part time job) compared with what you actually spend.

It’s good to

  • Plan ahead
  • Decide how much you need
  • Find out the facts

Money and education

If you are thinking of staying in education beyond the official school leaving age (further education or, later, higher education), you need to do your research. Investigate:

  • The cost of your course
  • Whether any money is available to help you
  • If you will need to pay the money back, and when
  • The benefits of continuing with your education

Money and work

You need to consider many things when looking at the salary being offered including

  • Training given
  • Chances of promotion
  • The hours you’ll need to work
  • Cost of travel and other expenses
