Gloucestershire Young People's Substance Misuse Service

The GYPSMS provides support and treatment for young people in Gloucestershire with alcohol and other substance misuse problems.

The GYPSMS works throughout Gloucestershire offering a free specialist service for children and young people under the age of 18 with alcohol and substance misuse problems.

The service sits within the County's Youth Support Service. 

 What else do GYPSMS do?

  • GYPSMS provide a free service for young people
  • They can arrange to meet you somewhere that's convenient for you - they come to you
  • Any information they have about you is dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner
  • You are the priority - not your alcohol or drug misuse and/or other problems - but you
  • The team covers the whole county and have designated workers for each area
  • GYPSMS work with a variety of partners to help you access all the support you might need

 

What you can expect from the GYPSMS

  • Once they have your referral they will try to contact you either by telephone, letter or through the person that referred you
  • They'll try to sort out a meeting place and time that suits you - they try to do this within a week of first hearing from you
  • When you first meet with them they will talk about confidentiality and spend some time listening and talking to you about your concerns
  • They will arrange a second appointment if you'd like to meet again.
  • Work with you to make a plan of how you'd like to work with GYPSMS
  • Put you in touch with other support organisations
